Hijri date converter: both directions
A Hijri date converter answers two different questions: what is this Gregorian date in the Hijri calendar, and what is this Hijri date in the Gregorian calendar? The tool uses the country and month-start table shown above, so both directions share one basis.
It does not use the rough year formula. It reads the tabulated month starts, applies the selected adjustment and returns a complete day. Switch the country to see how the same date changes; no result is sent to a server.
Gregorian to Hijri and back: a worked example
In the current table, Sunday, 1 November 2026 is 21 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in Saudi Arabia. In Pakistan the same civil day can resolve to 20 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH, because the Pakistani table may begin the month one day later. This is a real calendar difference, not a rounding error.
The reverse direction follows the same path: enter a Hijri day, month and year, find the month start in the table, add the day offset and read the Gregorian result.
Hijri date converter examples
In 1448 AH, Ramadan begins on 8 February 2027, and Eid al-Fitr falls on 9 March 2027. Enter either date to check the opposite direction, or change the country to see whether the month start is different.
Excel and CSV with the Hijri date converter
The batch area below converts many Gregorian dates at once and downloads a CSV file. Open it in Excel or another spreadsheet to keep the Gregorian date, Hijri date and weekday together.
Islamic calendar converter for country-specific dates
The same day can be 21 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in Saudi Arabia and 20 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in Pakistan. An Islamic calendar converter must therefore show its country basis. Use the selector above, or open the one-way Hijri to Gregorian guide for a focused walkthrough.

The Hijri date converter: frequently asked questions
How do I convert a Gregorian date to Hijri?
Choose the Gregorian to Hijri direction in the converter above and enter the day; the Hijri date appears at once with the weekday and month length. By default the converter uses the Saudi Arabia month-start table: it finds the Hijri month that contains your day and counts forward from that month's first day. The Hijri date converter shows the country basis beside the result, so you always know which table produced it. If you need another country's answer, change the country in the calculation basis selector, and the result moves whenever that country starts the month on a different day. You can also shift the result by one day in either direction when your local authority announced a different start than the table. The converter needs no sign-up, runs in your browser and never sends the dates you type to a server. For the opposite direction, pick Hijri to Gregorian and enter the Hijri day, month and year.
Why does the same date convert differently by country?
Because countries can start a Hijri month on different days. In the current table Sunday, 1 November 2026 is 21 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in Saudi Arabia and 20 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in Pakistan. That is a difference in the calendars themselves, not a calculation error, so the converter shows the country basis beside every result.
Can I convert many dates at once?
Yes. Paste Gregorian dates into the batch box of the Hijri date converter, one per line, and each Hijri date appears in a table. You can download the results as a CSV file and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
Is the converted date exact or approximate?
The result is a complete day taken from a month-start table, not an estimate from a formula. Its certainty follows the month status: an official month is confirmed, while a provisional month can move by one day if the authority announces a different start.
When does Ramadan 1448 AH start?
In the current Saudi Arabia table, Ramadan begins on Monday, 8 February 2027. Enter that date in the Hijri date converter to check it, or switch the country to see whether the start differs there. The official announcement after the crescent sighting remains the final word.
Does the site store the dates I enter?
No. The Hijri date converter runs every conversion in your browser with the tables loaded with the page. Dates are not sent to a server or saved to an account, and the converter works without signing in.
